Certification Requirements
Candidates must complete the requirements within 6 months of passing theory exam:
- Be age 18 or older.
- Hold current First Aid (STANDARD or EMERGENCY) certification.
- Hold current Adult-Child-Infant CPR C/AED certification.
- Hold current Certified Personal Trainer distinction from CPTN or other organizations.
- Complete the SrFit™: Mature Fitness Program online course
- Complete a Personal Trainer Log (PDF, 95KB) of 15 hours one-on-one training an older adult (age 50+).
Getting Started
To become an Older Adult Training Specialist follow these three simple steps below:
1. Ensure You Meet the Requirements
- Ensure that your Personal Trainer Certification, CPR and First Aid status are current.
- Register for and complete the SrFit™: Mature Fitness Program online course.
2. Review for the examination
Review the material in the SrFit course text. All the theory exam questions originate from material covered in the course text.
3. Write the Certification Theory Exam
When you feel confident of your acquired knowledge you can write the SrFit theory exam. The exam is included with the cost of the course.
Theory Examination Guidelines
The theory exam covers all chapters of the SrFit course text. The theory exam format is 50 randomly selected multiple-choice questions. The theory exam is 120 minutes (2 Hours) in length and the passing grade is 70% or higher.
Practical Guidelines
The practical for the Older Adult Training Specialist distinction is 15 one-on-one practice hours with older adult clients (age 50+).
