How to Create periodization Plan Workshop

Description

Periodization is the systematic variation of training variables with the purpose of achieving peak performance at a pre-determined date. Many books have been written on the topic of periodization and various models (linear, non-linear, undulating, conjugated and block) have been suggested. The body of literature on periodization, however, is characterized by disagreements in terminology, bias towards certain types of sports (long vs. short competitive season), theoretical tables that are difficult to interpret into practice.

In this workshop you will learn a completely flexible model of planning a long-term training cycle (16-20 weeks) that makes use of the fundamental and effective principles by which the body works.

The following Topics will be discussed:

  1. The essential features of an efficient periodization model including:
    1. Parallel vs. sequential development of physical abilities.
    2. Concentrated vs. distributed loading.
    3. Optimal use of short term overtraining.
  2. Definition of 7 different one week training templates – the building blocks of your long term training plan
    1. Main type and goal of one week training templates
    2. Options for structure of each one week template (number and duration of training session)
    3. Options for structure of session (number of exercises)
    4. Best training methods for each one week template
    5. Selecting exercises for each type of block
    6. The type of weight training that works best with energy systems training.
  3. How to use the one week training blocks in the creation of your training program
    1. How to combine the one week blocks in a 16-20 week training cycle.
    2. Pros and cons of “forward” vs. “reverse engineering” your training cycle
    3. How to train for two sets of goals simultaneously.
